Stage 1
Julian Alps, Slovenia
The traverse starts at Vrsic, Slovenia's highest road pass, already above 1,600 metres. From here the route enters the limestone heart of the Julian Alps without a long first climb from the valley.
Stage 2
Julian Alps, Slovenia
Pogacnikov dom stands on the Krizki podi plateau above the Trenta valley. Bare limestone, high peaks and small alpine lakes give the first hut night a distinctly high-mountain setting.

Stage 3
Julian Alps, Slovenia
The next stage moves deeper into the Triglav massif to the Dolic hut. This is exposed karst terrain beneath Slovenia's highest mountain, with little shelter away from the huts.

Stage 4
Julian Alps, Slovenia
