The Way Back: From a Siberian Gulag to India
Spoiler warning: this trace reveals major events and character fates from Peter Weir’s The Way Back (2010). It follows the film’s imagined journey from a Siberian Gulag through the taiga, Lake Baikal, Mongolia, the Gobi, Tibet and the Himalayas to British India. This is not a verified historical itinerary: the film was inspired by Sławomir Rawicz’s The Long Walk, but archival records show that Rawicz was released from Soviet custody under an amnesty rather than making the escape he described.
