The route begins in Zielona Góra and Zabór, moves north through Łagów and the Międzyrzecz Fortified Region, then stretches west to the transboundary Park Mużakowski and the destroyed old town inside Kostrzyn Fortress.

Palmiarnia and Park Winny, Zielona Góra, Poland
Start in the city where the region's wine identity is easiest to read. The Palmiarnia stands beside the Wine Park and its demonstration vineyard, only a short walk from the centre. It is not meant as a complete wine experience. It is the orientation point: a reminder that viticulture here is part of the urban story, not a recent countryside branding exercise.

Lubuskie Centrum Winiarstwa, Zabór, Poland
Continue to the Lubuskie Wine Centre in Zabór, created to interpret the region's winemaking history and promote its contemporary vineyards. This is the useful bridge between old tradition and the modern producers scattered across the voivodeship. From here, individual winery visits can be added without turning the guide into a commercial directory.
Day 2 · Morning
Łagów, Lubuskie, Poland
Łagów changes the tempo: a small historic settlement compressed onto a narrow strip of land between two lakes, dominated by the castle of the Knights Hospitaller. Climb the castle tower for the geography before spending time at lake level. The stop gives the route a human-scale counterpoint between the city vineyards and the huge military infrastructure that comes next.
Day 2 · Afternoon
Pniewo near Międzyrzecz, Lubuskie, Poland
At Pniewo, enter the central underground system of the Międzyrzecz Fortified Region: bunkers linked by tunnels, barracks and technical spaces built as part of Germany's pre-war eastern fortifications. The complex is also one of the region's most important bat hibernation sites, which is why seasonal access to parts of the underground system is restricted.

Łęknica / Bad Muskau, Poland–Germany
Park Mużakowski ignores the neatness of a modern national itinerary: its designed landscape extends across both banks of the Neisse and today's Polish–German border. Created by Prince Hermann von Pückler-Muskau in the nineteenth century, the park treated the wider countryside as a composed landscape. Walking or cycling across the bridges is the best way to understand the UNESCO site's scale.
Day 4 · Midday
Old Town and Fortress, Kostrzyn nad Odrą, Poland
End at the remains of Kostrzyn's old town inside the fortress. War destruction left the street plan, foundations, bastions, gates and fragments of major buildings without the dense city that once filled them. It is a fitting borderland finale: not a reconstructed postcard, but a place where urban history is read from absences, surviving fortifications and the meeting of the Oder and Warta frontier.
